Only Muslims Will Be Shown Mercy in the Hereafter

Question: It is said that Muslims with correct faith (iman) will never enter Hell. Is it true?
ANSWER
Yes, it is true. What is meant by "They will never enter Hell" is that no torment will be inflicted on them, even if they enter Hell. The light of a Believer will extinguish the Fire. A hadith-i sharif says (what means):
(For my Ummah [community of the Believers], the heat of Hell will be like the heat of hot baths.) [Abu Nu'aym]

Anyone who leaves the world with faith, that is, as a Muslim, will go to Paradise. Allahu ta'ala's mercy has exceeded His wrath. Three Qur'anic verses say (what means):
(O those who have sinned excessively, do not despair of Allah's mercy because Allah forgives all sins. He is very forgiving and merciful.) [Az-Zumar 53]

(If a person who does evil or who does injustice to himself asks for forgiveness, he will find Allah very forgiving and merciful.) [An-Nisa' 110]

(Allah forgives all sins, except shirk, for whomever He wills.) [An-Nisa' 48]

In addition to them, it is declared in hadith-i sharifs:
(If a person believes that Allah knows the sin he has committed, Allah forgives him, even if he does not repent of it.) [Tabarani]

(If a kafir [disbeliever] knew how great Allah's mercy is, he would not lose hope of Paradise.) [Bukhari, Muslim]

(He who remembers Allahu ta'ala or who fears Him once in his lifetime will get out of Hell.) [Tirmidhi]

(Jibrail said, "Everyone who dies a Believer will enter Paradise." I asked him, "Will a person who commits fornication and theft enter Paradise, too?" He said, "Yes." I asked him three times. He said, "Yes, he will enter Paradise, even if he drinks wine.")
[Tirmidhi]

(If the greatness of Allahu ta'ala's forgiveness were known, nobody would avoid sins.)
[Nasafi]

(Allahu ta'ala is more merciful to His servants than this woman is to her child.) [Bukhari]

(If there were no one who commits sins, Allahu ta'ala would create people who would sin and then He would forgive them because Allahu ta'ala is very forgiving and very merciful.) [Tabarani]

(Allahu ta'ala forgives sinners in a way that does not cross anyone's mind.) [Bayhaqi]

(A Believer who is between khawf [fear] and raja' [hope] will attain what he hopes for and will be safe from what he fears.) [Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah] (Khawf means fearing Allah's torment. Raja' means hoping for Allah's mercy.)

(Except my Ummah, there is not an ummah except that some of them are in Paradise and some of them are in Hell.) [Daylami]

(Hell is haram for a person who accepts Allah as the Rabb and accepts me as the prophet.) [Hakim]

(My Ummah is the Ummah that has been shown mercy. It is holy, blessed. There will be no torment for them on the Day of Resurrection. Their torment is only the fitnas that arise among them in the world.) [Tabarani, Ibn 'Asakir]

The above-mentioned proofs show that Believers, no matter how grave a sin—except disbelief—they commit, will become beneficiaries of forgiveness and intercession and will not enter Hell. Even if they enter, its effect on them will be like the heat of hot baths.

Hadrat Imam-i Rabbani states:
If a Muslim who expresses the word tawhid [La ilaha ill-Allah Muhammadun rasul-Allah] and accepts its meaning believes that Muhammad 'alaihis-salam is Allahu ta'ala's Prophet and that whatever he said is true, believes that those who disagree with the Prophet are wrong and evil, and breathes his/her last in this faith and goes to the other world with this faith, he/she will enter Paradise after receiving the penalty for filth of disbelief [kufr] if he/she has any. That is, if he/she practices the customs, rites and ceremonies peculiar to disbelievers, and on the days and nights which disbelievers hold sacred does as they do, he/she will definitely go to Hell. But having a mote of faith in his/her heart, he/she will not remain eternally in Hell. He/she will suffer torment until he/she is cleansed of the filth of disbelief and will get out of Hell at last.

A disbeliever will burn in place of each sinful Muslim who dies with faith and who does not have any filth of disbelief. Some pertinent hadith-i sharifs are as follows:
(This Ummah has been shown mercy. Their torment is in the world and from one another. On the Day of Resurrection, a polytheist will be allocated for each Muslim and will be said, "This is your ransom from Hell.") [Ibn Majah]

(My Ummah has been forgiven. The trials they experience in the world are considered expiation for them. On the Day of Resurrection, a Jew or a Christian will be given to each Muslim, and it will be said to him, "This is your ransom from the Fire.") [Tabarani]

(On the Day of Resurrection, a disbeliever will be given to each Muslim, and it will be said, "This is your ransom from the Fire.") [Muslim]

(My Ummah is the Ummah that has been shown mercy. It is holy, blessed. There will be no torment for them on the Day of Resurrection. Their torment is only the fitnas that arise among them in the world.) [Tabarani, Ibn 'Asakir]

(On the Day of Resurrection, when all Muslims are in a state of prostration, it will be said to them, "Raise your heads. We have made as many people of disbelief as the number of you ransom for you.") [Ibn Majah]

(On the Day of Resurrection, an angel will come with a disbeliever. He will say to the Believer, "This disbeliever is your ransom against the Fire.") [Hakim]

(There will be no torment for my Ummah in the Hereafter. On the Day of Resurrection, a disbeliever from the people of corrupt religions will be given in place of them. This is their ransom from Hell.) [Hatib, Ibn Najjar]

One day I visited a sick person. He was about to die. I turned my attention to his heart. His heart had darkened. I did my best to clear away the filth; it was of no avail. Meditating deeply for a long while, I came to realize that that blackness was the contagion and symptom of disbelief, and that they were caused by his relationships with disbelief. It was then realized that that evil would be cleared away only with the fire of Hell, the punishment for disbelief. Yet since a tiny light of faith was seen in his heart, owing to this he will be taken out of Hell. The torment of Hell is for disbelief and for the symptoms and contagion of disbelief.

The grave sins committed by those Believers who shun disbelief will be forgiven either through Allahu ta’ala’s compassion for the sake of their faith or by their repenting with their hearts, seeking forgiveness with their tongues and doing a good deed with their bodies, or being blessed with intercession. If violation of others' rights is involved in a sin, then it is necessary to get the wronged party's forgiveness. Those who are not forgiven by such means will be purified through worldly problems and cares or through the throes which they will suffer while dying. If they are not purified with these either, some of them will attain forgiveness by suffering torment in their graves. And others will be forgiven through the torment and suffering in the grave in addition to the vehemence of the Day of Resurrection; they thereby being without sins, there will be no need for them to be purified through Hell’s torment. The reports informing us that there is torment in Hell also for sins other than disbelief is always intended to explain that there is contagion of disbelief in these sins. Examples of these are the sins smeared with disbelief, such as committing a sin by slighting or ignoring its importance, not to perform namaz or to sin by flouting the commands of the Islamic religion. (Vol. 1, Letter 266)

It is necessary to die a Muslim in order to go to Paradise. It is also necessary to love Muslims since they are Muslims and not to love disbelievers since they are disbelievers. A Qur'anic verse says (what means):
(Whoever seeks a religion other than Islam should know that that religion will never be accepted.) [Al-i 'Imran 85]

The heat of hot baths
Question:
Does the hadith-i sharif "For the Believers of my Ummah, the heat of Hell will be like the heat of hot baths" include all sinful Believers? Are there any exceptions?
ANSWER
It includes all Believers without exception. It will be like the heat of hot baths when compared to the severity of the torment of Hell.

Hadrat Imam-i Rabbani states that Believers who do not have the filth of disbelief will never enter Hell, even if they are sinful. (Vol. 1, Letter 266)
